In Mark 5 Jesus heals the demoniac. This man's life was so transformed by the power of Jesus that he begged Jesus to let him go with Him.
Mark 5:19 However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."
Ministry starts at home first. Tell your story to your family and friends. Learn how to love and serve your family and friends. Sometimes we get this notion that because I had an awesome experience with Jesus that I am supposed to go have a crusade at Safeco Field this weekend. Jesus would say to us, "Go home to your friends," start there, tell them.
We are in a season where most people will attend church if we just ask them to come. We like to say, 'find, tell, bring.' Find a family member or a friend and tell them your story of what Jesus has done for you. Bring them to church or small group or to your house for dinner. Most of the time you don't lead stranger to Christ, you lead friends to Christ. Who are we praying for during this season to hear the message that Jesus love them and wants to be their Lord?
Neither of the sons in the Prodigal God story were ministering very well at home. One took the money and ran. He thought that it was time for him to lead away from the home. The older brother stayed home but had a 'i'm better then you' attitude. That wasn't very attractive.
Lord Jesus let us all be a reflection of your love. May the lost see a light in us that is attracting and we will have an opportunity to tell our story. Give us the strength to be loving and serving to those in our family that we live with every day.
May God Bless You,
Pastor Tom
